Getting the Most out of Lesson Observations
The desire to continually develop and enhance the quality of learning and teaching is at the heart of the teaching profession. A core tool in achieving this is classroom observation. It underpins performance management, school self-evaluation and most aspects of school improvement.
Not only is lesson observation statutory and crucial to improving learning and teaching, but also necessary as evidence for the Self Evaluation Form. When these requirements are imposed upon us it can be difficult to perceive lesson observation as an experience that can be beneficial and rewarding.
This workshop will focus on some of the key skills for successful lesson observations. The activities and materials will prepare the observer for the complete observation process, from the preparation to the positive outcomes. It will focus on helping to create a developmental process where the observed teacher takes responsibility for defining outcomes and actions for further improvement.
